Fitting LEDs in the 3210

To install these LED's you will need:

>A Torx T6 Screwdriver

>A small headed Soldering Iron

>Blue LED's (10)

Dismantling the phone

(a)        Remove Back X-press on cover

(b)        Remove Battery & Sim Card

(c)        Unclip aerial from top of phone (release two side clips by sliding a small screwdriver between plastic of aerial and the metal phone housing then slide aerial towards top of phone to release top peg)

(d)        Undo four T6 Torx screws

(e)        Remove metal layer (now free)

(f)         Remove Jack Plug plate at base of phone

(g)        Remove now free PCB (leaving dome plate & screen in front panel)

The board is now free.

To remove the old LED's use a pair of pliers (or anything you have to get hold of the old LED) to gently get hold of the old LED while you heat the contacts. Then you will need to remove the led gently.

If the LED breaks off during this then if you still have the bottom bit of the LED heat this up and push it off the contacts using the soldering iron.

Now you will have two contacts with a bit of solder on them, this is where you will place the new blue LED. To solder on the LED make sure has the right polarity (see below) and place it on. You can hold it using the pliers or even with your finger nail (if your brave enough). This will insure the LED stays in place while you heat it up.

To complete the process make sure the LED is in place and secure. If it isn't then it may be knocked off and you may take the contacts with it! (see my attemps). Then turn on the phone and test the LED. (The LED will not light if you have other green LED's).
